The Caixa Competition for Young Artists is part of a series of initiatives that Caixa Geral de Depósitos develops in the field of culture and is designed to recognise and stimulate young artistic production in the visual arts. In the first edition of this new competition, works by six artists aged between 25 and 35 will be acquired for a total amount of 48,000 euros, which will become part of the CGD Collection managed by Culturgest.

Caixa Geral de Depósitos recently decided to reactivate programmatic acquisitions for its Contemporary Art Collection and launched the Caixa Competition for Young Artists. This new acquisition programme aims to consolidate and enhance this collection by incorporating a collection of works by the most significant contemporary Portuguese artists.

The Caixa Geral de Depósitos Contemporary Art Collection is a representative collection of Portuguese art production over the last 60 years. With this decision, CGD opens a new chapter in the history of its contribution to strengthening the encounter and dialogue between art and the Portuguese public.
