Environmental Crimes
Culturgest welcomes documentary theatre company Hotel Europa for a diptych inspired by facts surrounding the São Pedro da Cova Mine and its tragic legacy – A Mina and Tribunal Mina. The latter brings to trial one of the biggest environmental crimes that happened in Portugal. At a time when the world discusses the need for international laws that protect the environment and guard against climate change, this will be a debate about environmental crimes.
Based on information gathered for Tribunal Mina, and featuring André Amálio and Tereza Havlíčková, authors of Tribunal Mina, Andreia Galvão, climate activist and a regular with the Hotel Europa company, Rui Berkemeier, environmental engineer and member of Associação ZERO, and Viriato Soromenho-Marques, philosopher and thinker long since engaged in the civic environmental movement, the debate will address the social and ecological implications of the case in light of existing and planned legislation in Portugal and Europe.
