GESTOS PENSANTES
GESTOS PENSANTES
How do gestures make sense? How do they make us think? Do we think through gestures or do gestures think without us?
Barbara Formis talks about the artistic and philosophic research that she has been conducting under the scope of the Laboratoire du Geste (Gesture Laboratory) – a platform co-founded by Formis which promotes research, publication and creation in the field of the performing arts. The French choreographer Boris Charmatz joins the conversation to explore the importance of the gesture and the consequences of its effectiveness both for philosophy and for art.
Barbara Formis is a lecturer in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and devotes her time to studying the philosophy of the body, contemporary aesthetics and pragmatist philosophy, paying particular attention to the role of the artistic disciplines and their relationship to social phenomena and everyday practices.
