When the COVID-19 pandemic forced Culturgest to close its doors, we invited the artist Pedro Lagoa to develop for our website a virtual arm of the project that he has been carrying out since 2007 under the title archive of destruction. Between June and December 2020, we made the archive of destruction: department of CIS available to all internet users – a broad repository of texts, images, films, and sounds, of a documentary and fictional nature, which signal gestures of destruction in physical, ideological or symbolic form.

In 2022, under the framework of the Editions of the Archive, Pedro Lagoa published the book Notes Towards a Volcanic Impulse: a collection of drawings, texts, and images that constitute a speculative investigation into the impact of the fire-humanity dynamic on the construction of the very idea of civilization. Culturgest celebrates the existence of this volume by holding an informal conversation between the artist, Pedro Levi Bismark (architect, critic, essayist, editor-chief of Punkto and researcher at CEAU - Center for Studies in Architecture and Urbanism of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto) and Bruno Marchand (visual arts programmer at Culturgest), which will focus on volcanic impulses as well as on other declinations of that which is one of the most unique artistic projects underway in our panorama.
