Catarina e a Beleza de Matar Fascistas
This family kills fascists. It is an ancient tradition that each core member familiar always followed. Today, they meet again in a house in the countryside, in South of Portugal. One of the young women in the family, Catarina, is going to kill her first fascist, kidnapped on purpose. However, Catarina is unable to carry out the murder or refuses to do so. Thus, conflict breaks out, accompanied by several questions. What is a fascist? Is there room for violence in the fight for a better world? May we violate the rules ofdemocracy to better defend it?
The show created from this text, also directed by Tiago Rodrigues, was presented with great critical and public success in several Portuguese theatres and in several countries, receiving the award for Best Foreign Show in France & Italy.
On the night we present Dans la mésure de l’impossible, by Tiago Rodrigues and on the eve of celebrating 50 years of the 25th of April revolution, we are hosting the presentation of the book Catarina e a Beleza de Matar Fascistas. (Catarina and the Beauty of Killing Fascists). There will be carnations and we will sing the cues of the revolution.

Biografia Tiago Rodrigues
Tiago Rodrigues (Amadora, 1977) é actor, encenador, dramaturgo e produtor. Em 2003, fundou a companhia Mundo Perfeito com Magda Bizarro, através da qual criou e apresentou, ao longo de 11 anos, cerca de 30 espectáculos em mais de 20 países. Foi também professor de teatro em várias escolas. Paralelamente ao seu trabalho em teatro, escreveu argumentos para filmes e séries televisivas, artigos, poesia e ensaios. Alguns dos seus espectáculos mais reconhecidos são By Heart (2013), António e Cleópatra (2014), Bovary (2014) ou Sopro (2017), e as suas peças mais recentes são Catarina e a Beleza de Matar Fascistas (2020), Coro de Amantes (2021) ou Dans la mesure de l’impossible (2022). Já recebeu várias distinções nacionais e internacionais, destacando-se o XV Prémio Europa Realidades Teatrais (2018), o grau de Cavaleiro da Ordem das Artes e Letras atribuído pelo Governo Francês (2019), o Prémio Pessoa (2019) e a Medalha de Mérito Cultural do Governo Português (2021). Foi Director Artístico do Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, em Lisboa, entre 2015 e 2021. Actualmente, é director do Festival d’Avignon, sendo o primeiro não-francês a assumir a função naquela que é uma das mais importantes manifestações de teatro em todo o mundo.
