Routes of Care in the Performing Arts in Portugal

A day to think together about how to transform cultural institutions and organisations with the aim of promoting anti-racism and inclusion in artistic and management practices. Continuing an initiative carried out in 2023, in the context of the program Reformular a Autoridade e a Autoria nas Artes — Tecendo Linhas de Reparação (Reformulate Authority and Authorship in the Arts — Weaving Threads of Reparation), curated by Raquel Lima, we joined a project seeded and dreamed up by UNA — União Negra das Artes (Black Union of the Arts), namely: the collective elaboration and future publication of an Manual Antirracista para as Artes (Anti-Racist Manual for the Arts).

We invite artistic agents and professionals from the field to be present at this workshop that aims to promote intersectional dialogues in the performing arts, deconstructing practices of simple symbolic representation, and developing relationships of work, care, and affection that match the multiplicity of which current societies are made.
