DOCLISBOA
DOCLISBOA
At this year’s edition of Doclisboa, we present two retrospectives about the works of two women who have left their mark on European cinema. We show the entire work of Ulrike Ottinger, one of the most fascinating figures from German contemporary arts and the author of an avant-garde oeuvre of the New German Cinema, which covers different topics ranging from feminism to the queer imaginary or post-colonialism. We also present the work of Cecilia Mangini, a pioneer in Italian documentary cinema. Influenced by neo-realism, and working with important artists from that time, such as Lino de Fra or Pier Paolo Pasolini, Mangini’s revolutionary humanism captured the political and social context of postwar southern Italy in a quite unique way.
The festival’s sections – Heart Beat, From the Earth to the Moon, Green Years, Cinema of Urgency and Risk – continue with the same programming lines as before, in harmony with the Portuguese Competition and the International Competition, and Nebulae, a networking space, which completes the programming with a proposal conceived for an increasingly wider audience.
