MARQUISE, an independent exhibition project founded in 2017, operated from a residential apartment in Lisbon with the aim of building connections and affinities between local and international artists.

Resisting the geographic isolation of Portugal's "end of the road" location, the project sought to navigate the logistical and conventional challenges inherent in the presentation of contemporary artists by commercial galleries and/or institutions.

The exhibition brings together works that signal a peculiar paradox: artists who, in their different approaches to refusal and reproduction, inevitably end up generating new forms.

For the 8th edition of Território, MARQUISE presents works by Daan van Golden, Fiona Connor, Gianna Surangkanjanajai, Hans-Peter Feldmann, Laurent Dupont and Lourdes Castro.
