Isabel Carvalho
Isabel Carvalho
Curated by: Catarina Rosendo
Editoria Errância presents a selection of posters, leaflets, books, scarves, and magazines, printed in a wide variety of media, by the artist Isabel Carvalho (Porto, 1977). Exhibited together for the first time, these works highlight the artist’s continued activity in the universe of editions and publications, as substantial and constant as her visual practice and with it sharing a universe of ecofeminist and queer concerns, as well as an interest in linguistic processes of significance.
Whether as an artist, author, designer, publisher, or distributor — in individual or relational projects, Isabel Carvalho has been blurring the boundaries between writing and images, and questioning the notion of authorship, from the activities scheduled for Navio Vazio [Empty Ship] — where she tested an editorial designed to explore the plasticity of editorial processes in a three- dimensional space — until the creation of Clara Batalha, the activist educator who signs most of her texts as a heteronym.
