Classic Objects is another work that was born from the pandemic and from how art ceased - for a moment - to exist, letting artists to be people left to themselves. Jenny Hval was like that; Just “her”, forcing herself to find answers to many questions about art, its need, power or value, how life gets by without its creation. She looked back at her past life, listened to Alice Coltrane and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and the desire arose to compose simple songs about simple stories, looking for a certain essence of herself, remembering places she had been, that she misses, but also of the future and imaginary places, the result of dreams and hallucinations so impossible, that only art can reveal. This 4AD debut is a map to all these places, between heavenly and earthly, between the fantastic and the real, made up of serene and elegant songs - but always looking through the mirror, after all, Jenny Hval is an artist whom we’d like to call a transgressor.
