Meredith Monk & John Hollenbeck
Meredith Monk & John Hollenbeck
Within an intimate concert and dialogue, Meredith Monk expands and improvises some of her most iconic works with the moving complicity of musician and composer John Hollenbeck, with whom she is a longtime friend and collaborator. We shall hear new music, but also music created from five decades of artistic production by someone who never allowed herself to become complacent, becoming a unique figure in vocal research and composition. She has gifted us exceptional work in singing, crossing it with performance, theater, or opera, but it is through the publisher ECM label where she recorded unique albums, from Dolmen Music to On Behalf of Nature, from 1981 to 2016, respectively, including Book of Days (1991) or Impermanence (2008). It was along this path that we learned to listen to Meredith Monk as a literal spokesperson for original and innovative music, leaving a deep and unique mark. It is from the height of a majestic career that she visits us to offer us her pioneering and enchanting voice.
