Two years ago, Oy Division set the audience at Culturgest alight with their Jewish klezmer music from the 18th and 19th centuries: wedding music, folk songs, Yiddish theatre songs, played hard and fast without any frills. All born in Israel in the 1970s, they came together in 2005 to reinvent an age-old musical tradition with Jewish origins, but in uenced by Russian, Polish, Turkish, Greek and, above all, gypsy music.
