VIBRATING IN THE WORLD

Séverine Kodjo-Grandvaux

The colonial forms of inhabiting have separated us from all living things: both from others and our environment. We face the need for a new form of inhabiting, of searching for a different way to live in the world that can reintegrate the human with the living and that facilitates, alongside reason, other ways of apprehending and relating which allow us to resound with the world. Based on this need, we will hear from Séverine Kodjo-Grandvaux, philosopher and journalist at Le Monde, author of Devenir vivants (Philippe Rey, 2021) and Philosophies africaines (Presence Africaine, 2013), and scientific commissioner at Fabrique de Souza, in Cameroon, an interdisciplinary project that brings together scientists, legal experts, artists and other professionals to think about the ties that bind humans and other living beings. Vibrating in the World invites us to imagine a presence on the planet that is both an embodiment of the self, and also – evoking Édouard Glissant and his philosophy of relation – the act of becoming sensitive to all living things and to our cosmic condition.
